King and super king size mattresses

When two adults share a bed, width is the single biggest factor in comfort. A king size mattress measures 150 x 200 cm, and a super king measures 180 x 200 cm, so each sleeper gets more room than on a standard double. If you have the space, going up a size is one of the most noticeable upgrades you can make.

What size are king size mattresses?

In the UK a standard king is 150 cm wide and 200 cm long, which is 5ft x 6ft 6in. A super king is 180 cm wide and 200 cm long, or 6ft x 6ft 6in. European king mattresses are often 160 x 200 cm, so do not assume they will fit a UK king frame. Always check the size of your bed base before ordering.

Pick your feel

Larger mattresses make support and edge strength more important, because two people are asking more of the same surface. Pocket sprung options give dependable support, memory foam keeps partner disturbance low, and hybrid designs combine the two. For extra firmness, see orthopaedic and firm mattresses.

Delivery and handling

King and super king mattresses are heavy and bulky. Measure doorways, stairwells and landings before you order, and plan an extra pair of hands for moving it into the bedroom.

Smaller beds

If a king will not fit, look at double and small double mattresses. Not sure which size suits your room? Email Support@Officialcoffeetable.com with your room measurements.
